One Of The Many Great Debates
A while back, in this section, I featured peafowl, which I had spotted in Coral Gables, Florida. I was thrilled when I saw them, happily flying around the neighborhood, enjoying the sunshine, and their freedom. http://thatisallfornow.com/?p=6144#.Vc_AVrPTDzF
I had not seen previously seen peachicks, thus when I happened upon a pea family, at a park in Virginia, I was excited to see the mother and chicks, and of course in awe of the peacock and his beautiful feathers, just as I should be.
They were in a pen, encased by maybe two by two inch “chicken wire” which, at the moment, only caused me to reflect on how it inhibited my photographic access.
It was not until later that I began thinking about the cage, which housed the five birds, comparing their quarters to the peafowls flying around the Gables – ah, the great debate between the freedom and preservation of wildlife versus man’s desire to interact with nature.
I do wonder what she may be thinking.
