A Community Garden
Lafayette Greens
While in Detroit, I went searching for the famed Coney hotdog, which I found; but infinitely more pleasurable, was the lovely community garden, in the middle of the city, steps away from the hotdog.
I love the concept of green spaces, in the city, and this garden not only offered beautiful flowering specimens, edible treasures, and a place to sit and reflect, but unique art and a refuge for animals.
There were two men working the garden, the day I stopped, and neither was interested in speaking with me, though I did let them know, how handsome the fruit of their labor was.
It is my understanding, that the food grown, in the garden, is given to those in need — such a wonderful way to share, while enriching oneself.
