To love a painting is to feel that this presence is… not an object but a voice.

La Posadas
by
Carmen Lomas Garza
I know too often I use the word love, to express my delight, in an artist and their work, but in this case I can truly think of no other word to adequately express how much I admire and enjoy Carmen Lomas Garza’s work. A self-identified as a Tejana, a person of Mexican origins born in Texas, her work beautifully and dynamically captures her culture and heritage, offering us a deeply personal glimpse into the traditions, which help, to define her.
I saw this charming work, on display, at the National Museum of Mexican Art, in Chicago, it was painted in 2000, a work of oil on wood.

Art can never exist without naked beauty displaced.
