The Tray

Cristina Jill Mosqueda
The Tray is a short story about a family’s history, which is told through its unique legacy.
“Though the Papa spent many nights looking up into the stars, praying for a way to save his family, from the coming Inquisition, in his heart, he knew it was hopeless. His parents were too old to start a new life, and even if they could be persuaded to leave, his grandmother was too sick to travel; and he would never leave any of them behind. Sadly, he accepted what he felt was the hand of fate, and knew that he would have to prepare his wife, to say good-by to her sons, the most unimaginable curse. ”
