President William Jefferson Clinton’s
First Home Museum
A detour took us through Hope, Arkansas, and inevitably, it was impossible for me to by-pass a Presidential site. I take umbrage with President Clinton’s lack of honor, most especially, while sitting in the White House. However, his accomplishments, especially given his humble beginnings, are worth taking note of. Soon after it opened, we visited his Presidential Library, which is located in Little Rock Arkansas. http://thatisallfornow.com/?page_id=1476 Though I always enjoy exploring Presidential Libraries, I found Clinton’s First Home Museum, a more intimate look into this man who occupied the White House for eight years.
Our tour was directed by a Park Ranger, who was quite knowledgeable, answered all of our questions, which is rare, and quite accommodating to our travel needs.
Not all of the furnishings are original to when President Clinton lived in the house with his Grandparents and Mother, however, the house has been set up with period pieces and in accordance to the President’s recollections and family photographs.
One of the more fascinating pieces of information, which we learned, was that Vince Foster was not only President Clinton’s neighbor, but that their homes were a stone throw away from each other. The physical proximity made me ponder the intensity and intimacy of their friendship, at least for a few moments, and Mr. Foster’s death; but alas, I am not a conspiracy theorist.
(Mr. Foster’s home is the brick house with the red roof and chimney)
I do not know that I would have made a special trip to Hope, but if you are passing by, I recommend the stop.

We circled around the block a couple of times, looking for the parking lot. Finally, we spotted this sign; it was a humble parking “lot” for a humble home – rather perfect.
The reason for my initial tolerance of President Clinton: One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel Garcia Marquez, was supposed to be one of his favorite books, as it is mine.
