To love a painting is to feel that this presence is… not an object but a voice.

Shtetl Music and Klezmer at Night
by
Alexander Kanchick
I am sorry that the quality of my photography is so terribly lacking, in capturing Mr. Kanchick’s work, as I find it truly delightful; and hope you will be inspired to look up his paintings, to be able to more fully appreciate the joy he brings to the canvas!
I love the color, the subject matter, and the execution of his characters — he is a contemporary artist, and thus in a moment of delusion, I imagine I might one day own one of his works.
He was born in Kishinev, Russia, where he studied art in what was then Leningrad, before eventually being given permission to leave the Soviet Union for Israel.
