The Chicken Did Cross the Road
I was in Ybor City, outside of the State Park, when I spied this colorful and as it turns out fearless rooster.
This is a wonderful park to visit, especially if you are interested in the history of Florida and her immigrants, mostly Cubans, who worked in the cigar industry between the late 1800’s into the 1930’s.
One of my favorite aspects of this park, are the still standing, original houses in which the cigar workers lived a fairly upper middle class life, for the time period.

He did initially turn away from me
But then had a change of heart
He started to approach me
And he let me draw closer as well
He was fearless
“Okay, you can get my right side”
“And my left, why not”
I was mesmerized
I could not help myself, I had to wonder,
Might the Chicken cross the road
He must perform this task for hundreds of tourist
Off he went
