Amaryllis
Gardening offers so many pleasures to the gardener, from harvesting the fruit of your labor and sharing your bounty with loved ones, to giving you a great excuse to spend time outdoors getting your hands dirty! However, one of the things I most enjoy is actually watching a seed, cutting or bulb metamorphous into something beautiful, which I can say: I grew!
Amaryllis bulbs, which originally hail from South Africa, have become synonymous with Christmas, especially in colder climates, where so happily grow in pots and burst forward with vibrant colors, when winter has washed the landscape white.
In warmer areas, they grow year around, thank goodness.
Watching the flowers unfold is a delight.
What a marvel to behold!
