Cadillac Ranch
Driving down US 40, near Amarillo Texas, you will see the Cadillac Ranch, which consist of 10 Cadillac’s that were built between 1949 – 1963. I remember having seen this rather quirky display, which somehow screams out Texas to me, during our first road trip, in 1987, but alas we had no camera, so recently we stopped again, to photograph them for you.
The half-buried cars, tailfin or lack thereof exposed, were originally planted by Chip Lord, Hudson Marquez and Doug Michels, as an outdoor art installation. Since then, they have been modified, mostly through spray paint, by the public – I would not say that the modifications have improved the view.
