To love a painting is to feel that this presence is… not an object but a voice.

The Farm House at the Entrance of the Wood
by
Rosa Bonheur
I am not normally drawn to landscapes without people or at the very least animals, but this painting pulled me in, for a closer look, simply because of the shading. The brush strokes seem almost like they have been feathered onto the canvas, with the slightest of touch, melding into a farm cottage, which shows a bit of weathering; and makes me wish I could walk down the path, and see what lies behind the buildings.
It was painted by the first woman to receive the Legion of Honor, French artist Rosa Bonheur, who in fact came from a family of artist, who like her, were well known for their paintings of animals.
Art can never exist without naked beauty displayed.
