Color! Wonderful, wild, brilliant and bold colors scream out from this Matisse canvas. Interior with Etruscan Vase was painted at the beginning of World War II, in 1940, while spending the winter in the south of France, as was Matisse’s custom.
I love the female figure, in this painting, sitting at her desk. She looks out longingly and pleased; is she contemplating making lemonade?
