The news is on, an update on Tropical Storm Emily, which may visit South Florida over the weekend – then suddenly a familiar snap – and we are without power.  It only last a few minutes, as everything electrical switches off and then on again.  The noise outside is loud.  Through the glass, sliding doors we see leaves and branches fiercely swaying, out we go.

To the right of our house, over the park and lake we see branches and leaves tossed about in the sky, as a definite cone of air seems to be forming, and gathering strength.  The air moves from south to north, breaking up and re-gathering strength.

We are awe struck, forced to marvel at the grace and movement as this funnel of air reaches out, gathering the surrounding winds into herself.  We cannot help but wonder what this roaring wind will do.  Moments after it passes, the phone will start to ring – it is a tornado, and it has touched down in our town – damaging our neighbor’s homes.

It passes us, though the sirens still sound.  Within minutes the sky starts to clear, and we notice that God has put a rainbow in the sky!
