To love a painting is to feel that this presence is… not an object but a voice.

Mischief and Repose
by
John William Godward
This is one of my favorite paintings hanging at The J. Paul Getty Museum, in Los Angles, California. Mischief and Repose, 1893. The painter, John William Godward (1861- 1922) was born in England, though he lived many years in Italy. He was pre-Raphaelite / neo-classicist whose preferred subject was beautiful women, classically posed. I love his pallet, and serene essence which he perfectly captures.

Art can never exist without naked beauty displayed.
