Juan Marquez, nominated by his daughter Mrs. Beth Smith wrote:
“I would like to say a few words about Juan Marquez. He is my father a good man, kind, hardworking and the definition of a servant. My father is a simple man he has always worked hard to provide above and beyond for his family. Sometimes he comes of as gruff or demanding or hash but now after years of trying to understand my father I see it as care, interest and honest to goodness wanting the best for his family. I wish there was more to give my father than an award. I feel he goes above and beyond as a father on a regular basis. I have never needed for anything and wanted for very little, later realizing I did not need it. I wish some how I could give my father back in all the ways that he has given me, maybe one day. He never wants anything, he never asks for anything, some may call it pride maybe that is what it is but I see it as not wanting to put anyone else out and not feeling he deserves it. Dad I would give you the Dalia for all of the above and more. I love you, respect you, admire you and think that there is no better example of a father. I hope that one day in some way I can repay you for all that you have given me.”
It is our pleasure to honor this fine man, who truly has been an amazing father and is a worthy recipient of our first Dalia Award. In recognition of this accomplishment we are sending him the Dalia Award Certificate, as well as a cash grant.
