To love a painting is to feel that this presence is… not an object but a voice.

 The Creation

by

 Artist Unknown

I would not have thought the Creation, as the subject of the painting; rather it seems to be more about Noah and the Ark, as the animals are often depicted in pairs. The artist, of this Flemish oil on panel painting, is unknown; which no way impacts my appreciation for this piece.

I am quite taken by the colors and all of the action in this painting, but must say I find the depiction of God, the Creator, very intriguing. His clothes almost appear like priestly robes, while the hand gesture seems to pay homage to Michelangelo; overall though I find the painting joyful, God is depicted rather serious, until you look down to his feet where the various cherubim’s appear to be playing hide and seek with one another.

Art can never exist without naked beauty displaced.
