The Amish arrived in the United States on October 8, 1737, on the Charming Nancy which landed in Philadelphia, a little over an hour drive from Lancaster, Pennsylvania, which is now considered Amish country.
While touring Amish country with some friends, we happened to see these three images:
Children riding bikes without peddles, called “kick bikes”
Children playing softball
And folks riding along in their buggies
Respecting their right to go about their daily lives, without being photographed, we bought post cards! We enjoyed a great meal, did some shopping, and had a nice chat with a few very friendly people.
