To love a painting is to feel that this presence is… not an object but a voice. ~ Andre Malraux ~
Art can never exist without naked beauty displayed. ~William Blake ~
This is a twenty-five foot tall sculpture entitled Unconditional Surrender, created by Seward Johnson. It is based on the iconic photograph taken by Alfred Eisenstaedt, on August 14, 1945, on V-J Day, Victory in Japan, as the world heard the news that the World War II was finally over. Currently, the sculpture is in Sarasota Florida and San Diego, California.
Love the photo, but this sculpture…eh, not so much.
Fantastic site. Many congrats.
