To love a painting is to feel that this presence is… not an object but a voice.

Orchids and Hummingbird
by
Martin Johnson Heade
Dressed up in the most brilliant of autumn colors, this painting of a blooming Cattleya Dowiana and an Amethyst Woodstar hummingbird, speaks to my soul! I love the subject matter and its setting, regardless of the fact that there are no people present, usually a must for me to appreciate a piece of art. I find the work to be stunning, romantic, alluring, and as lively as a canvas can be.
It is from the Boston Museum of Fine Art collection, which Caroline, Kate, and I visited in September, using our Smithsonian Free Day, at the Museum pass.
Art can never exist without naked beauty displaced.
