Walking the streets of Washington D.C., I saw the familiar words uttered by so many for so long – Cuba Libre has been our prayer, our mantra, our hope – is it a lost hope?
Is today what the struggles were all about? Was the blood shed by so many for this moment? Were all of those who were assassinated, beaten, tortured, and drowned for this moment? Does raising an American flag in Havana bring life back to the dead? Will the families torn apart suddenly be reunited? Will all that has been lost be found? Today is not the change I hoped for.
