I Didn’t Want to Wake You
Things fall apart so quickly.
I go to turn the stereo down
Suddenly, the books fall
Crushing the Christmas village
Bringing down the tapes
Oh, the little people are now lying on their side
What do I do?
The books are in my arms
And laying on my thighs
I will have to pick them up
And maybe reconstruct the village
But what about the tapes?
And the little people?
It would be so much easier to leave . . .
I could leave the tapes, the little people,
And the village – lying on its side
Then maybe, let the books
Just fall to the floor,
Forget trying to hold on
And everything will fall apart,
All because I decided to turn the stereo down
See, I didn’t want to wake you
