To love a painting is to feel that this presence is… not an object but a voice.

An Interlude
by
William Sergeant Kendall
The artist has painted his wife, Margaret, who looks away from him, along with one of his three daughters. Margaret holds a book, which she is attempting to share with the little girl who is instead looking at her father. There is a slight sadness to this painting; the color palate of muted browns and neutral white, along with slight hints of greens and purple aid in creating a melancholy mood.
Art can never exist without naked beauty displayed.
