To love a painting is to feel that this presence is… not an object but a voice.

Miners in the Sierras 1851-1852

by

Charles Christian Nahl

and

August Wenderoth

I love color!  When looking at art, I am often drawn to the color on the canvas before the subject of the painting registers in my head or heart.  This painting is engulfed in vibrant colors that beautifully capture a California vista – from the blue skies, to variegated sandy mountains, to the boldly dressed miners who appear to be working in silence, dwarfed by the wonders of nature which surround them.

Miners in the Sierras was created by a team of German artist, Charles Christian Nahl and August Wenderoth, who migrated to America, splendidly capturing the gold rush to California, of 1848-1855.  It is quite remarkable to me how two people can work on one canvas, but this painting truly proves that it can be done.

Art can never exist without naked beauty displayed.
