A View from the Road

The Temperance Fountain

Did you know we had a Temperance Fountain in Washington D.C.? Or that it is considered to be the ugliest statue in the city? It was considered to be so hideous that it led to public art commissions being established for the approval of such civic gifts.

I happened upon the sculpture while walking in D.C., entirely unaware of its prior existence; however, I did not find it repugnant, rather, a View sufficiently intriguing that I photographed it to share with you.

The scaled dolphins, at the center of the fountain, from which the water once flowed.
