A View from the Road

“Magnolias for Pittsburg”

I do not know that without the snow, on the ground, I would have been stopped by this View From the Road; but a magnolia tree in bloom, in the winter, most assuredly caught my attention.

This small park, located in downtown Pittsburg, on the corner of 7th Street and Penn Avenue, is home to five live magnolia trees, and two bronze sculptures of magnolias in bloom.

The work was created by Tony Tasset, and contains hundreds of sculpted flowers, in various states of bloom. It is truly quite lovely, and certainly a hope of spring!
