Napkins
I prefer cloth napkins; I have a drawer filled with them and use them for more than special occasions, but not as often as I would like. Somehow I find that a fine napkin, like a piece of china or good silverware make my meal just a bit better — perhaps only perception. But if you are preparing a romantic dinner this Valentine’s Day, you may want to take a look at these suggestions for adding a bit of wonder to your table.
However, when setting the table I have never ventured into the world of making swans out of the napkins, though I have always thought it would be fun. These documents were found in someone else’s discarded cookbook; I cannot help but wonder if they made a Bishop’s Hat, Fan, or folded their napkins into a flute?
I find it interesting that the square card, was actually an insert with paper napkins, so maybe we can kick it up a notch, without having to wash, iron, or worry about lipstick on our linens!
The other two sheets were torn out of Burda, which appears to be a German magazine; I think the pictures make it pretty easy to follow along. I must say I love that someone in April of 1993, clipped these pages and tucked them away — I know it is last century, but at least it is not a hundred years ago, maybe I am not that far behind the times.
