Poet’s Corner

Time

savanahha 161 - Copy

I remember when time stood still

on long summer days

and even cold winter nights.

But not anymore,

time no longer lingers.

A day at the beach or

a walk through the woods

should be enough to silence

the hurried hand of time,

but they are not.

Time will not be detoured,

regardless of our plea.

I feel time racing,

at lighting speed;

reminding me,

as it rapidly rushes by,

of all I have yet to do.

I do not want to stop time,

just to slow it down a bit.

The years are slipping away

faster than I can savor,

all the flavors,

of the banquet,

which life has laid out

in front of me.

I wonder,

how much time will I be given?

Will there be enough time to finish

what I have begun?

Is there still time to start something new?

I hope so.
