The Reverends     As I have shared in the past, my Mother would literally hand copy books and endless notes, into spiral notebooks. Going through one of her notebooks, I came across this notation. What is so fascinating to me is that this is private material, never intended for anyone else to see;...

Mayberry, North Carolina (Mount Airy)     One of the things, which I most love about the road, is the opportunity to step into other worlds, often long gone.  There is something about Main Street, USA, that will always draw me in, coaxing me to pull over and walk the streets of towns that...

Don’t Tell Anyone Shhh . . . don’t tell anyone, but I bought a pair of “smart glasses”! As the end of the year approached, I thought I would be able to get another pair of glasses, at my usual place; but my insurance changed, thus I needed to find a company who took...

Welcome to Our Village!

For its 31st birthday we have added a true train station, a real alpine lodge, and a full fledge Santa’s Village!  As I always say, the Village is never the same, but the rules always apply – you need to find a place to live and a place to work!

Once again, Kate has created this lovely video and added a sound track featuring music from the Nutcracker, by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, in honor of having taken Christine, to see the ballet this year.

We, at That Is All For Now, wish you a very Merry Christmas!

Portland Head Light Cape Elizabeth, Maine     If you come to Maine, inevitably, you will see Portland Head Light; especially if you come as my guest.   President George Washington directed that this lighthouse be built in 1787; it is the oldest lighthouse in the state of Maine.  The lighthouse went into service...

Straight to the Point During this time of year when it feels like it all about light, whether  trying to bring light to the darkness of winter, in the northern hemisphere, or celebrate the holidays with lights, I found this display quite simple yet affective, as it is straight to the point. The colorful...

Fiction

In general I am not an envious person, but I do so wish I could write something as beautiful as this story. I love this story. When I first read it, I identified with Buddy; now I feel a bit more empathy with the elder woman, time does have its ways. I miss being...
